Most people retain good vision until about the age of 40 years old.  At that time, the eye’s natural crystalline lens will begin to gradually thicken and harden making it difficult for the muscle of the eye to automatically focus.  This loss of accommodation is known as presbyopia and it makes seeing things close up difficult without some form of correction, such as reading glasses or bifocal lenses.  The good news for people that suffer with cataracts is that the FDA has approved a new lens replacement that allows seamless focusing up close, far away and at all distances in between.
